The Bug Light Boys
Most people drove right past them.
A Maine story series by Lloyd W. Alexander
Friendship. Humor. Mystery. Adventure.
Beside the harbor in South Portland, a few folding chairs sit tucked behind the brush. To anyone passing by, it’s just a group of older people talking away an afternoon.
Then a younger man with a camera stops.
He came looking for somewhere quiet. What he finds is laughter, strong opinions, unexpected adventures—and people who make room for him without asking him to become someone else.
Strong opinions. Stronger friendships.
There’s always room for one more.
Pull up a chair
Some have served their country. Some have saved lives. All have stories they haven’t told yet.
Charlie, the two Donnies, Maggie, Mickey, and Eagle Eye don’t set out to become heroes. They show up, notice what others miss, and help when they can. A flat tire interrupts the afternoon. A missing cat brings them to their feet. Between the jokes and disagreements, something deeper takes hold.
The Bug Light Boys follows a mismatched group along the Maine coast as strangers become friends, friends become family, and ordinary afternoons turn into stories worth telling.
These are the heroes we don’t always see.
Meet the group
Six very different people. One place to belong.
Meet Charlie, Big Donnie, Slim Donnie, Maggie, Mickey, and Eagle Eye—the friends at the heart of the series.
